About Simon

If someone is coming into your home to help with your devices and accounts, you are entitled to know who they are. This is me.

Si, who provides the service

30 years of professional IT, and one person at a time

I am Simon. I have spent 30 years working in professional IT. For most of that time the job has involved explaining technical things to people who did not want to become technical — which turns out to be the useful part.

I now do that one person at a time, in their own home. It suits me better than the corporate side of the industry, and it is more useful to the people I work with.

What I will not do is talk down to you, or pretend something is obvious when it is not. If a problem is genuinely awkward, I will say so rather than make you feel you should have known.

How a visit works

The aim is that you can do it again yourself next time, without me.

  • We agree what you want to achieve. Before anything is changed, we settle on what a good outcome looks like — even if that is simply “I want to send a photo to my sister”.
  • I sort out or set up what is needed. You stay with the device and you type your own passwords.
  • I explain what I did, in plain language. No jargon, and no pretending a problem was smaller than it was.
  • You do it yourself, while I am still there. This is the part that makes it stick.
  • You keep a short written note. What we covered, and what to try next, so you are not relying on memory a week later.

How I work around your accounts

You stay in control of your devices and your accounts. That is not a slogan; it changes how a visit actually runs.

You type your own passwords. I do not keep your passwords or recovery codes. I will not operate your banking, move money or make financial decisions for you. Where remote help is used, it is booked by you, temporary, and disconnected at the end.

Local, and only local

I work in Loughborough and nearby villages, normally within about 20 minutes of north-west Loughborough. Keeping the area small is deliberate: it means I am not rushing between appointments, and it means the person who turns up is the person you spoke to.

What I can tell you plainly

  • 30 years of professional IT experience. The work has spanned support, systems and explaining technology to people who did not ask to be interested in it.
  • Prices published in full. No quoting after the fact, and travel is included across the core area.
  • One person. There is no team, no call centre and no subcontracting.

Tell me what you would like to sort out

You can call or email me now to talk through what you need. Home appointments begin Monday 19 October 2026.

Home visits run Monday to Thursday, in slots through the day. Remote support is booked on Fridays and is currently for customers I have already visited.
